CrimeaSOS facilitators interviewed 2,054 internally displaced persons (IDPs) about their problems and needs. Olha Shkarupa, manager in the social sphere of CrimeaSOS, told us about this.

“During four months of work, CrimeaSOS facilitators conducted individual surveys of 2,054 IDPs regarding their problems and needs. According to the results of surveys, internally displaced persons are most in need of humanitarian and psychological assistance. IDPs are also concerned about issues of social benefits, employment and access to medical services”, —Olha Shkarupa said.

848 of the interviewed persons are currently in the western regions of Ukraine, 746 – in the northern regions, and 460 – in the central regions.

Currently, 39 CrimeaSOS facilitators work in 13 regions of Ukraine: Vinnytsia, Poltava, Sumy, Cherkasy, Ternopil, Lviv, Rivne, Chernihiv, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Volyn and Chernivtsi. It is also planned to attract facilitators in Ivano-Frankivsk soon.

The work of facilitators in the regions is one of the activities of CrimeaSOS within the project “Strengthening IDP communities in the central and western regions of Ukraine”. The project is implemented with the financial support of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
