Almost 30% of appeals to CrimeaSOS “legal hotline” concern administrative services
8 / 05 / 2023CrimeaSOS “legal hotline” has been operating since April 2022. Specialists daily provide assistance to internally displaced persons, Ukrainians who found themselves abroad or in the occupied territories, and other victims of russia’s war against Ukraine. In total, CrimeaSOS legal “hotline” specialists received 2,926 appeals, 796 (almost 30%) of which related to administrative services.
The most urgent issues remain the obtaining a foreign passport and a passport of a citizen of Ukraine for the first time after turning 18 years of age. We would like to remind you that in November 2022, changes regarding the processing of documents certifying identity and confirming Ukrainian citizenship entered into force. CrimeaSOS previously provided answers to 9 questions that may arise regarding this issue during martial law.
In addition to processing documents, internally displaced persons are concerned about the social benefits. CrimeaSOS specialists received 329 such requests (almost 12%) during the operation of the “legal hotline”. IDPs are most interested in the pension payment procedure. 206 (7 %) appeals relate to establishing the fact of birth and death in the temporarily occupied Crimea.In 2022, CrimeaSOS lawyers initiated 243 cases to establish the fact of the birth of children from the occupied Crimea and Kherson region. They have prepared advice for those who want to receive a birth certificate of a child, but are abroad or in a territory not controlled by Ukraine.
