The russian court pronounced the fastest and the “softest” sentence to a resident of Crimea in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir cases” in years of the occupation of the peninsula. CrimeaSOS analyst Yevhenii Yaroshenko told us about it.

“On April 19, the southern district military court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced the resident of Crimea to 4 years in prison for allegedly participating in the activities of the “Hizb ut-Tahrir” organization. According to the court data, Murat Mustafaiev was sentenced. The man was detained on August 11, 2022, which makes the sentence passed on him in 8 months the fastest and the “softest” among the “Hizb ut-Tahrir cases” in the occupied Crimea”, — said Yevhenii Yaroshenko.

According to available information, Mustafaiev allegedly became a member of “Hizb ut-Tahrir” back in 2015. russian security forces assured that the man admitted his guilt, the criminal case was considered under a separate procedure.

Prior to that, the fastest verdict in “Hizb ut-Tahrir cases” in Crimea was passed in the case of the Crimean Tatar activist Marlen Mustafaiev.

On November 30 (less than 10 months after his arrest), the southern district military court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced him to 17 years in prison.

We shall remind you that 101 citizens of Ukraine were detained in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir cases” in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

Reference: “Hizb ut-Tahrir” is an international Islamic political party, which was recognized as a terrorist organization by the decision of the supreme court of the russian federation in 2003. However, it legally operates on the territory of Ukraine and most countries of the world. The occupiers sentence people for alleged involvement in “Hizb ut-Tahrir” up to 19 years in prison.
