In 2022, at least 234 cases of bringing to administrative liability on charges of discrediting the russian army were recorded in Crimea. The Head of the Board of CrimeaSOS told about this on the air of the telethon “Yedyni Novyny”.

“Last year, for example, at least 234 persons were brought to administrative liability, and we also know of two cases of criminal prosecution, two criminal cases related to discrediting the armed forces of the russian federation”, — said Oleksii Tilnenko.

On March 4, 2022, the russian government adopted amendments to the legislation providing for administrative and criminal liability for “discrediting the armed forces of the russian federation”. This allows to prosecute people for spreading information and expressing a position that differs from the Kremlin’s official position. The amendments were adopted with the aim of “protecting the interests of the russian federation and its citizens, maintaining international peace and security”.

We remind you that CrimeaSOS experts previously studied court proceedings in occupied Crimea regarding the “discrediting of the russian army” for the period from March to August 2022. The text of the study can be found at the organization’s website.
