Students of some schools in Crimea are forced to make “medals” for the “heroes” of the so-called “special operation” for May 9. CrimeaSOS analyst Yevhenii Yaroshenko told us about it.

“We learned that students of some Crimean schools are forced to make “medals” for the “heroes” of the so-called “special military operation” for May 9. In addition, schools in the occupied Crimea will collect parcels for the russian military participating in the war against Ukraine”, — says Yevhenii Yaroshenko.

“Medals” are made and parcels are prepared for the occupying forces as part of the “Our victory” marathon, which continues in various regions of russia and in the occupied territories of Ukraine. Stories about relatives who participated in the Second World War, or, as they say in russia, in the Great Patriotic War, are also part of the marathon.

“Article 20 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights provides that any propaganda for war, incitement to enmity or violence must be prohibited by law”, —the analyst adds.

Article 29 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child provides that a child’s education should be directed, among other things, to development of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, and for the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations. Article 13 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and Article 5 of the Convention against Discrimination in Education state that education shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations and all racial and religious groups and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.

The occupiers continue to impose a russian identity on Crimean schoolchildren. At least once a week, the anthem of the aggressor state is sung in the schools of the temporarily occupied peninsula. In addition, on September 1, the russians campaigned for Crimean schoolchildren to join the ranks of the russian army and conducted propaganda lessons with the so-called “heroes” of the so-called “special operation”.

In December 2022, it became known that money was collected from teachers of some schools in occupied Simferopol to support the war in Ukraine. For refusing to donate the funds, teachers were “hinted” at possible trouble.
