2,419 appeals were received by CrimeaSOS “legal hotline” specialists. CrimeaSOS lawyer Anastasiia Kalinina told more about this.

“Since April 2022, CrimeaSOS “hotline” lawyers have received 2,419 appeals. Of these, 30% concerned obtaining administrative services, in particular — the first issuance of a passport of a citizen of Ukraine after the age of 18. At the end of January of this year, remote identification of a person receiving a passport was carried out for the first time in Ukraine. For this, the employees contacted relatives in the occupied territory”, – said Anastasiia Kalinina.

In the fall of 2022, the Government of Ukraine adopted innovations regarding the procedure for issuing documents proving identity and confirming Ukrainian citizenship. Since November 17, during the martial law, the procedure for identifying a person in the temporarily occupied territories can be carried out remotely.

According to the information of the State Migration Service (SMS) of Ukraine, a man applied to the Podilsk branch of the State Migration Service in Kyiv. He came to Kyiv after the start of the war on February 24, 2022 from the occupied Crimea and decided to receive a Ukrainian passport in order to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The employees managed to contact the man’s relatives in Crimea using a videocall. After a successful identification procedure, the man received a passport and the opportunity to defend the state.
