CrimeaSOS: at least 25 Crimean political prisoners were transferred to russian prisons in 2023

Since the beginning of 2023, at least 25 victims of politically motivated persecution in Crimea have been transferred to places of punishment on the territory of russia, which is a war crime. CrimeaSOS analyst Yevhenii Yaroshenko told about it.

Earlier, CrimeaSOS shared a list of 14 people who were transferred to russian prisons from the beginning of 2023. As of September 13, 11 more names were added to the list.

In addition to the previously mentioned Crimean political prisoners, in July 2023, four persons involved in the second Simferopol group of the “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” were illegally sent to prisons in different parts of russia. Vladlen Abdulkadyrov was transferred to the prison of the Lipetsk region, Tofik Abdulhaziiev to the prison of the Chelyabinsk region, Izzet Abdullaiev and Raim Aivazov to the prison of the Ulyanovsk region.

In August 2023, three Crimean political prisoners were illegally transferred to russian prisons. Another person involved in the second Simferopol group of the “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”, Bilial Adilov, was transferred from Novocherkassk pre-trial detention centre to a prison in Krasnoyarsk Territory. Amet Sulemanov, a member of the third Bakhchisarai group of the “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”, was transferred from the Simferopol pre-trial detention centre to the prison in the city of Vladimir.

Citizen journalist Iryna Danylovych was transferred from the Simferopol pre-trial detention centre to the penal colony in Stavropol Territory. 

In September 2023, four Crimean political prisoners were illegally transferred to russian prisons. Three of them were members of the second Simferopol group “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”, who were held in Novocherkassk pre-trial detention centre. Akim Bekirov was sent to a prison in the Saratov region, Rustem Seithalilov to a prison in the Ulyanovsk region, Asan Yanikov to a prison in the Vladimir region.

Azamat Eiupov involved in the Bilohirsk group of the “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”, was transferred to prison in the city of Verkhnyuralsk, Chelyabinsk region.

We would like to remind you that transfer of civilians, including political prisoners, from the Crimean Peninsula to the territory of russia is a war crime. With such actions, the occupiers violate Articles 49 and 76 of the IV Geneva Convention. According to Article 76 of the IV Geneva Convention, “persons accused of offences shall be detained in the occupied country, and if convicted they shall serve their sentences therein”.
