The longer the full-scale war lasts, the greater will be the discontent in the russian federation and in the occupied Crimea, and as a result, the number of cases of “discrediting the russian army” will increase. CrimeaSOS analyst Yevhenii Yaroshenko told us more about it.

“The provision of russian legislation on liability for allegedly “discrediting the russian army” is a tool for suppressing dissent and resistance. When a person is brought to administrative liability for the same kind of offense for the second time in a year, then criminal liability follows”, — says Yevhenii Yaroshenko.

Since the introduction of this norm of russian legislation in the occupied Crimea, there have been at least two open criminal cases about the alleged discrediting of the russian army. One of them already has a sentence in the form of a fine. However, such an “offence” may involve liability in the form of imprisonment.

“If we talk about administrative liability, then this can threaten with a fine of up to 100 thousand rubles. Most often, administrative liability for allegedly discrediting the russian army entails a fine of 30,000 rubles”, — Yevhenii Yaroshenko added.

CrimeaSOS recorded that occupation courts considered cases of “discrediting the russian army” in Crimea at least 284 times
