28 / 08 / 2023106 citizens of Ukraine became victims of political persecution in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir cases” in the temporarily occupied Crimea. This was reported by CrimeaSOS analyst Yevhenii Yaroshenko.
“Over nine years of russian occupation of Crimea, 106 Ukrainian citizens became victims of persecution in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir cases”. Four of them have already served their sentences, and 84 are still imprisoned for 8 to 20 years. Dzhemil Hafarov, a Crimean Tatar imprisoned in 2019, died behind bars on February 10, 2023″, – Yevhenii Yaroshenko said.
We shall remind you that on August 24, 2023, a new wave of mass searches took place in the houses of Crimean Tatars in the Bakhchisarai area of the temporarily occupied Crimea. As a result, six Crimean Tatars were illegally detained and taken into custody. They are suspected of alleged involvement in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir” organization.
According to Yevhenii Yaroshenko, the russian occupation authorities in Crimea are trying to portray Crimean Tatars as extremists and saboteurs by searching their homes.
For reference: “Hizb ut-Tahrir” is an international Islamic political party, which was recognized as a terrorist organization by the decision of the supreme court of the russian federation in 2003, but it operates legally on the territory of Ukraine and most countries of the world. The occupiers sentence people to up to 20 years in prison for alleged involvement in “Hizb ut-Tahrir”.
