CrimeaSOS: the Ukrainian premiere of a documentary film about Nariman Dzhelial took place in Kyiv

27 / 02 / 2023

CrimeaSOS and partners held the premiere of the documentary film “Voice of Crimea. Nariman Dzhelial” and the discussion “Crimea-Resistance-Victory”. CrimeaSOS analyst Yevhenii Yaroshenko was among the panellists.

“Nariman is one of hundreds or even thousands of victims of repression. However, a person who was abducted and imprisoned is not the only victim. It is also their families. For comparison, there are some political prisoners who have eight [or more – ed.] children”, – said the analyst during the discussion.

Film producer Natalia Humeniuk, Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Denys Chystikov, historian and CrimeaSOS expert Maksym Sviezhentsev also took part in the discussion of the nature of resistance in Crimea. The discussion was moderated by Alim Aliev, Deputy Director General of the Ukrainian Institute.

“Crimea fell not just under the occupation of an enemy state, but under the occupation of a state with a degrading authoritarian regime, where the screws were tightened every year: where new administrative and criminal articles are constantly invented in order to suppress any resistance”, – Yevhenii Yaroshenko added.

The event was held on February 26 on the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol in the House of Cinema in Kyiv. Documentary film “Voice of Crimea. Nariman Dzhelial” was created by the team of the NGO “Public Interest Journalism Lab” in partnership with CrimeaSOS. The director of the film is Anna Tsyhyma, the producer is Natalia Humeniuk.

The event was organized by CrimeaSOS, the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Office of the Crimea Platform, Public Interest Journalism Lab.
