CrimeaSOS: independent and sovereign Ukraine — free Crimea and all illegally imprisoned Ukrainians

24 / 08 / 2023

On August 24, Ukraine celebrates Independence Day. A free and sovereign Ukraine is impossible without the return of Crimea and other territories temporarily occupied by russia, reminds the head of the Board of the NGO CrimeaSOS.

Now we are confirming our independence, our defenders are fighting for every kilometre of territories illegally captured by the enemy. However, Ukraine will become completely free and independent when it returns all the occupied territories and people who were illegally imprisoned by the russians during more than nine years of war.

So far, at least 180 residents of Crimea have been illegally imprisoned by the occupation authorities on trumped-up charges. More than half of them were sent to colonies and prisons on the territory of the russian federation. Each and every one of them should be released and returned home to free Ukrainian Crimea.

Our independence is 32 years old, but since 2014, Ukrainians continue to fight for it every day on the battlefield and in the information war. Each and every one of us is doing our part for the victory. For nine years, CrimeaSOS has been highlighting the illegal actions of the occupiers in Crimea, maintaining communication between the peninsula and mainland Ukraine, and helping people affected by russian aggression. We will continue our work in the future.

Today we congratulate Ukraine and all of us on Independence Day and believe that soon we will celebrate it in all free cities and villages.
