CrimeaSOS: NGOs received grants in the amount of over UAH 2.5 million

In 2023, NGOs and initiatives received assistance in the amount of more than UAH 2.5 million within the CrimeaSOS grant program.

This year, CrimeaSOS received 51 applications for participation in the grant program from NGOs and initiatives that support and provide social services to internally displaced persons (IDPs). 38 of them were supported in the following regions: Vinnytsia — 5, Khmelnytskyi — 3, Cherkasy — 3, Poltava — 1, Sumy — 1, Ivano-Frankivsk — 1, Zhytomyr — 3, Kyiv — 5, Chernihiv — 4, Volyn — 2, Ternopil — 4, Lviv — 3, Chernivtsi — 3.

The CrimeaSOS grant program is aimed at supporting the initiatives of internally displaced persons and organizations. The goal of the program is to improve the ability of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to influence the resolution of their own problems and the problems of the communities in which they live.

The priorities of the grant program for 2023:

  • social cohesion and strengthening of communication between IDPs and the local population;
  • promoting the involvement of IDPs in the decision-making process;
  • integration and adaptation of children through rest, sports, leisure;
  • support of thematic HABs for IDPs;
  • measures aimed at raising people’s awareness of domestic and gender-based violence;
  • support for organizations or initiatives of people with disabilities;
  • support for IDP employment assistance programs (digital literacy, online employment, language courses, international trade platforms);
  • creation and operation of common public spaces where IDPs and representatives of the host community can communicate, share their experiences and expand their skills and knowledge through projects of common interest at the community level;
  • improving access to services for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Within the framework of the program, organizations will be able to receive assistance for arranging cultural and educational spaces, improving the institutional capacity of organizations, initiating new areas of work, etc. In particular, the funds go to technical and sports equipment, furniture, machinery and various equipment.

Currently, the collection of applications for participation in the program has been completed. Some communities have already started implementing projects within the program.

The grant program is implemented within the project of CrimeaSOS and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). In 2022, NGOs and initiatives received assistance in the amount of over UAH 1.9 million.
