President Zelensky introduced a law draft on indigenous peoples of Ukraine to the Parliament
25 / 05 / 2021He stated this during his speech, dedicated to the Day of Commemoration of victims of the Crimean Tatar genocide.
“Today, I introduce urgent legislation on the indigenous peoples to the parliament. I am confident that MPs will consider it in the nearest future and will confirm the status of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine. In particular, this relates to Crimean Tatars. And finally [the MPs] will do what has been postponed for 30 years, by eight convocations of the Verkhovna Rada and by all previous presidents,” – said President Zelensky.
Today Ukraine and the world commemorates victims of the deportation of Crimean Tatars that began on May 18th, 1944.
