Overview of the situation in Crimea. January 2024
1 / 03 / 2024- the occupiers continue to prosecute people for their anti-war and pro-Ukrainian views;
- a Russian court fined Imam Ismail Yurdamov and sentenced Oleksandr Tyurenko to 2 years in prison. The house of Yalta resident Oleksandr Savytskyi was searched;
- russia again violated the right of Crimeans to a fair trial;
- Vladimir Sakada was transferred to a penal colony in the Kaluga region of Russia. Arsen Abkhairov was transferred to a strict regime colony in Buryatia;
- crimean political prisoners continue to report harsh conditions of detention and health problems;
- the occupiers have tightened control at the entrance to and exit from Crimea and introduced a “special regime” for crossing the administrative border between the peninsula and Kherson region;
- in January, the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit 6 military facilities in Crimea;
- at least 27 Crimeans were killed on the contact line.
