CrimeaSOS: residents of Crimea can conclude a contract with a lawyer without EDS
12 / 12 / 2022Residents of the occupied Crimea can conclude a contract with a lawyer in the absence of an electronic digital signature. CrimeaSOS lawyer Anastasiia Kalinina talked about this during the webinar for lawyers who work with residents of the occupied territories.
“Our lawyers do this [conclude a contract with a client] by exchanging scanned documents, as well as by representing a person on the basis of a warrant of attorney. Any changes [in the legislation] that generally prescribe the presence of EDS for residents of occupied Crimea will not work in practice”, — explained the lawyer.
Ukrainian mobile operators do not work on the territory of the occupied Crimea. Therefore, local residents are unable to create an electronic digital signature that is tied to the number. This makes it difficult to conclude a contract with a lawyer, as well as to obtain state services online.
“While the residents of the so-called newly occupied territories may have EDS and mobile communication may work at some spots, this does not apply to the residents of Crimea”, —Anastasiia Kalinina added.
On December 12, the first of a series of webinars was held for lawyers from the free legal aid system and lawyers who provide assistance to residents of the occupied Crimea.
On December 16, the second lecture will be held on the topic of establishing the legal facts of the birth of children in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. You may find out the details and register using the link.
