CrimeaSOS held a webinar on the rules for arranging bomb shelters
15 / 12 / 2022On December 15, CrimeaSOS organized a webinar “5 questions about arranging shelters” about the peculiarities of shelter equipment. CrimeaSOS co-coordinator Iryna Datsenko told us about this.
“New realities determine the urgent need for well-equipped shelters in kindergartens, hospitals, schools, residential buildings, public spaces – everywhere. Webinar participants learned about requirements for premises, ventilation, furniture, necessary items and other aspects related to shelters”, — says Iryna Datsenko.
The speaker was Olha Lekova, architect and owner of the ARTSTUDIOLEO design studio. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Olha has been advising about shelters.
Basic tips for arranging shelters:
- A shelter must be equipped in accordance with the standards, in particular the Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on July 9, 2018 #579.
- There should be a standard set of necessary items in the shelter.
- Shelters must be inclusive. For example, there should be a ramp (one can buy a removable ramp or make it himself/herself).
- Investors may be interested in ideas. For example, creating not just shelters, but social enterprises that can use shelters for a variety of purposes, such as points of unbreakability.
- Potential contractors and suppliers should always be checked. Their products and services must meet shelter safety standards.
- In order to attract funds for shelter equipment, it is worth contacting donors, local budgets and crowdfunding platforms, for example, Splinkokosht.
“Funds for the arrangement can be found with the help of grants from international and national organizations. The chances of finding a suitable grant are much higher in the coming months, because many organizations approve their budgets in winter”, —Iryna Datsenko added.
