CrimeaSOS held a number of events for the Day of Resistance in different cities of Ukraine

6 / 03 / 2024

February 26 is the Day of Resistance to the russian Occupation of Crimea. On this day in 2014, at the call of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, thousands of caring Crimeans gathered near the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea. Thus, the citizens resisted the occupation and declared to the world the indivisibility of Ukraine. According to various sources, there were 5,000 to 10,000 people at the protest. However, the very next day, at five in the morning, the government of Crimea was captured by the russian military.

In order to tell people in different regions about the resistance that has been going on for 10 years, CrimeaSOS held events in different cities of Ukraine: Berdychiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Zolotonosha, Rivne, Sumy and Khmelnytskyi.

Invincible”, which tells about the heroic resistance of Ukrainians during the occupation, which has been going on for more than ten years. The event was held on the basis of the Centre for Work with Children and Youth at the place of residence.

Why do we do this?
Awareness of the events that took place in Crimea in 2014 is an important condition for unity. This prepares the ground for de-occupation and allows maintaining the connection between the temporarily occupied peninsula and mainland Ukraine. The more Ukrainians and foreigners know about the events of that time, the easier it will be to fight against the narratives of russian propaganda.
