CrimeaSOS: the occupiers convicted at least 15 people in the “cases of the Noman Çelebicihan battalion”
17 / 02 / 2023During the nine years of the occupation of Crimea, at least 15 people were sentenced in the “cases of the Noman Çelebicihan battalion”. This was reported by CrimeaSOS analyst Yevhenii Yaroshenko.
“At least 15 people have already been convicted on charges of allegedly participating in the Noman Çelebicihan battalion. On February 17, 2023, the occupational “Dzhankoi District Court” announced the sentence to Oleksii Kyseliov – 8 years and 6 months of imprisonment. The court proceedings did not stop, despite his complaints about his health and the lack of medical care”, — said Yevhenii Yaroshenko.
On July 22, 2022, the occupiers abducted the former officer of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksii Kyseliov, in the city of Henichesk, Kherson region, and took him to Crimea. He was accused of allegedly being involved in the Noman Çelebicihan battalion. In an attempt to obtain a confession, russian “law enforcement officers” tortured Kyseliov with electric currents and beat them.
In October, the detainee announced a hunger strike due to the lack of medical care, which had not been provided to the man for two months. We shall remind you that the lack of proper medical care in places of deprivation of liberty has already led to the death of two Crimean political prisoners and poses a mortal threat to others.
In total, during the years of occupation of the peninsula, at least 16 people were charged with alleged participation in the Noman Çelebicihan battalion. 10 of them — after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The total term of sentences in these cases is 106 years and three months.
