CrimeaSOS: the detained Akhaiev brothers may be subjected to torture
19 / 12 / 2022FSB officers may torture the Akhaiev brothers detained in the Dzhankoi area. This was reported by CrimeaSOS analyst Yevhenii Yaroshenko.
“According to the CrimeaSOS lawyer, the detained Crimean Tatars Ernest and Marlen Akhaiev may be subjected to torture, as their whereabouts are being concealed. Barring a lawyer from investigative actions also indicates the possible use of illegal investigative methods”, — said the analyst.
On the morning of December 19, in the village of Turheniev in the Dzhankoi area of the occupied Crimea, officers of the occupation police searched the houses of the families of the Akhaiev brothers. Subsequently, the so-called “law enforcement officers” detained Ernest and Marlen Akhaiev and took them to an unknown destination.
Relatives and the lawyer submitted requests to various departments of the occupation police and the prosecutor’s office. However, the occupying law enforcement officers did not inform relatives and the lawyer of the whereabouts of the men. The younger brother of the detainees, Amet Akhaiev, was able to determine the probable whereabouts of the men using geolocation in his smartphone. Most likely, they are kept in the building belonging to the Border Service of the FSB in the occupied Crimea. The reasons for the search and detention are unknown.
