CrimeaSOS: 7 searches in 2 weeks — the occupiers continue intimidating the Crimean Tatars

During the last two weeks, 7 searches took place in Crimea with the aim of intimidating the Crimean Tatars. CrimeaSOS analyst Yevhenii Yaroshenko told us about it.

“The russians continue intensifying terror on the occupied Crimean Peninsula. Over the past two weeks, at least seven searches have taken place in the homes of Crimean Tatars in Crimea in connection with the alleged damage to the railway on February 23. Four of them took place in the homes of random people. With mass searches, russia is trying to intimidate Crimean Tatars who do not agree with its occupation policy”, —Yevhenii Yaroshenko said.

On February 23, 2023, a railway was damaged by unknown persons in the Bakhchysarai area of the temporarily occupied Crimea. Therefore, the movement of trains stopped for some time.

After the event, the peninsula was shaken by a new wave of mass searches in the homes of Crimean Tatars in different areas of the peninsula.

On February 28, russian special services searched the house of the Crimean Tatars Dzhemilovs in the village of Pryiatne Svidannia, Bakhchysarai area, AR Crimea. The occupiers were checking Abdulla Dzhemilov, who was not at home during the search, for involvement in the damage to the railway. 

On the evening of March 6, russian security forces searched the house of the Crimean Tatar Edem Murtazaiev. Later he was released.

On March 9, security forces came to the 59-year-old brother of delegate to the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people Asan Abduramanov. On the same day, the house of Memet Ashurov in the village of Krasnohvardiiske was also searched. Later, security forces took the man to Simferopol for questioning.

On March 12, security forces searched the house of Lemmar Yunusov, a delegate to the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people. On March 11, russian special services searched Crimean resident Akhtem Ismailov in the village of Pervomaiske, Simferopol area.

On March 15, russian security forces searched the house of activist and citizen journalist Rolan Osmanov in the village of Urozhaine, Simferopol area. After the search, Rolan Osmanov was taken to the FSB building.
