CrimeaSOS: 644 people became victims of enforced disappearances in the Kherson region
14 / 03 / 2023At least 644 citizens of Ukraine became victims of enforced disappearances in the Kherson region. Oleksii Tilnenko, Head of the Board of CrimeaSOS, told us more about this.
“At least 644 people became victims of enforced disappearances in the Kherson region during the full-scale invasion. During the operation of the CrimeaSOS “hotline” for prisoners of war and civilian hostages, 1,251 appeals were received regarding people held captive by the russians”, — said Oleksii Tilnenko.
Many victims of violent abductions are taken to the territory of Crimea. At least 126 people who were abducted from the newly occupied territories of Ukraine are currently being held on the territory of the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea or were taken to russia.
The occupiers in the Kherson region abduct specific categories of persons. Mostly, these are people who can influence local opinion, former or current military personnel, employees of law enforcement agencies and special services.
Cases of abduction of civilians and capture of military personnel can be reported to the relevant CrimeaSOS “hotline” at the numbers: +38 097 327 69 56 and +38 095 931 00 65. The appeal can be made in WhatsApp and Signal messengers. Specialists provide consultations by phone from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
