Event in Kyiv to Mark the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of Crimea on February 26
2 hours тому
Tomorrow, February 26, Kyiv will host the event “CRIMEA: The Home We Are Fighting For.” This event is dedicated to the key challenges Ukraine has faced throughout 12 years of Crimea’s temporary occupation and the mechanisms the state is implementing to support Crimeans, preserve the heritage of Ukraine’s indigenous peoples, and maintain ties with the occupied territories.
During the panel discussions, speakers will address both the strategic vision for Crimea’s future within the context of state policies and the consequences of the peninsula’s prolonged occupation for regional and international security. A separate part of the event will be dedicated to discussing the scale of human rights violations in occupied Crimea and outlining mechanisms for international response, crime documentation, and holding the occupying state accountable.
The discussion will focus on the understanding that the lack of physical access to Crimea does not mean a loss of responsibility for it. Ukraine continues to document the crimes of the occupying state, monitor the human rights situation, and integrate the issue of Crimea into national policy and the European integration process.
Because occupation is not a pause.
