Analytical reports about Crimea

In April 2016 court banned Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people both national and regional ones. There are continuing searches and pressure on independent journalists in order to force them to move out or to stop act professionally. In April, two more Crimean Tatars were arrested under the case of Hizb ut-Tahrir, massive document checks and detentions of the Crimean Tatars were carried out.

In March 2016 the main trends are: continuation of restrictions on the activities of the Mejlis and the creation of "new government bodies" of Crimean Tatars, new criminal cases against activists, the problems with the implementation of the federal program of development of Crimea and the ban to continue using the Ukrainian automobile license plates.

February 2016 was marked by a sharp increase of repressions of the Russian law enforcement agencies against the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and Crimean Muslims, as well as the continuing militarization of the peninsula.
