The occupying Russian authorities put defendants in politically motivated cases at risk of measles. Prison personnel contrived to place convicted Сrimean activist Volodymyr Baluch in solitary confinement and he once again went on a hunger strike. Baseless searches of Crimean Tatars and members of the Jehovah's Witnesses community are taking place in Crimea. Ahead of the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag, representatives of the Russian prosecutor's office again attempted to convey warnings about the illegality of violating the Russian law “On Counteraction to Extremist Activity” to Crimean Tatar activists. In June, Russian-controlled courts delivered 9 judgments in politically motivated cases against Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars.
