De facto courts of occupied Crimea brought convictions against five persons of The “Case of February 26” (probation sentences). Minimum security sentence of 5 years was imposed upon Volodymyr Balukh, Ukrainian activist holding a hunger strike for more than 100 days. Oleh Sentsov and Emir-Usein Kuku continue their hunger strikes. A criminal case has been initiated against Crimean Tatar Elina Mamedova. Torture and inhumane treatment in relation to the detainees (eg. Ahtem Mustaev) are an extremely widespread practice of the Federal Security Service (FSS). Besides that, the authorities of the occupied territory refuse to investigate such cases (eg. Rinat Paralamov).
