All segments of society, disloyal to the Russian authorities, - pro-Ukrainian activists, Crimean Tatars, Russian opposition activists – keep being subjected to different forms of persecution, such as beatings, torture, illegal arrests, threats, summons to the de facto law enforcement agencies. In March 2018, attacks on the freedom of information extremely intensified – for the first time in occupied Crimea, criminal charges were brought against a civic journalist (Nariman Memedeminov). Moreover, Ukrainian information resources are still being banned. Such actions of the Russian Federation lead to the total informational isolation on the occupied peninsula.
