Ukrainian government approved plan of actions for the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People in order to honor the representatives of Crimean Tatar people killed and suffered in a result of genocide organized by the Soviet authorities, and to draw attention to current dramatic situation of Crimean Tatars, caused by the annexation of Crimea by Russian Federation.
The plan of actions includes carrying a meeting of memory of Crimean Tatar people genocide in the capital on Independence Square on May 18th, and evening-requiem in the National Opera of Ukraine named after Taras Shevchenko, with the participation of state leadership, public and political leaders, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states in Ukraine, representatives of international organizations, cultural and scientific figures, heads of religious organizations.
There will be placed a couch of the sample 1930-40s and stylized photo exhibition on the deportation of Crimean Tatar people in National Museum of the History of Ukraine, also there will be an exhibition of Rustem Eminov’s paintings from the “Deportation" series and a multimedia installation "Unutma", stylized photo exhibition dedicated to the Day of memory of genocide victims of Crimean Tatar people. It is planned to conduct a socio-awareness campaign, entitled «STOP genocide of Crimean Tatar people" and a telethon devoted to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People.
Furthermore, it is planned to cover actions on topics related to the genocide of Crimean Tatars and persons of other nationalities in the state media, translation and show of the documentary movie "Kirimoglu: Fight of the people" on the state television channels. Themed actions on the tragic events connected with the genocide of Crimean Tatar people and people of other nationalities will take place in the secondary, secondary special and higher educational establishments of Ukraine, and watching "Haytarama" film.
The foreign diplomatic establishments of Ukraine will organize and carry out shwo of films related to the celebration of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People.
Let us recall, according to decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from November 12, 2015 №792, in Ukraine May 18th is the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People. It is memory of criminal actions, planned by top brass of the former Soviet Union and implemented by the Soviet punitive organs in 1944, which led to the massive human victims and caused irreparable damage to Crimean Tatar people.
