Ukraine strongly condemns the organization by Russian Federation elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the seventh convocation on the territory temporarily occupied its Autonomous Republic of Crimea and in Sevastopol. This is stated in a statement the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The assignment of Russia an integral part of the sovereign territory of Ukraine to a single federal electoral district, as well as the creation of four single-mandate majoritarian constituencies the Crimean peninsula is a flagrant violation of the fundamental norms and principles of international law. In this regard, the results of voting and powers of 4 deputies of the State Duma, elected in occupied Crimea by the majority system, and 225 MPs elected by the proportional system, are insignificant and illegitimate, what casts doubts on the legitimacy of the State Duma in general", – the Foreign Ministry said.
Also, the Ministry recalled the resolution A / RES / 68/262 "The territorial integrity of Ukraine" of the UN General Assembly, which calles upon all states, international organizations and specialized agencies not to recognize any change to the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and to refrain from any actions or steps that could be interpreted as recognition of the changed status.
Therefore Ukraine calls on not to recognize the results of elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in terms of voting on the territory of occupied Crimean peninsula and promises to convey to all its international partners a list of persons directly involved in the organization of the electoral farce in Crimea, for inclusion in the sanctions lists.
