Activists reminded that punitive psychiatry equated to torture and inhuman treatment, and called for the immediate release of Umerov.

This morning, representatives of the human rights organization "International Partnership for Human Rights" held in Brussels an action in support of the deputy chairman of the Mejlis Ilmi Umerov. The organizers informed QirimInfo.

IPHR representatives demanded the immediate release of Umerov.

"We are deeply outraged by the actions of the Crimean "authorities" against Ilmi Umerov. Punitive psychiatry is well known Soviet method of fight with dissent that can be equated to torture and inhuman treatment in today’s world. Umerov must be released immediately", - the project manager and activist Simon Papuashvili said.

Let us remind, such actions in support of Ilmi Umerov will be held today in Berlin, Warsaw and Kyiv.
