The department calls such actions of the Russian side a flagrant violation of the Consular Convention between Ukraine and Russia, which provides for the right for consular Ukrainian officials to visit their citizens in places of their detention in custody in Russia.
Transfer 18 Ukrainians convicted in Crimea to Kyiv will be in September, the press-secretary of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine Mykhailo Chaplyga says. He also added that the Russian side is working on the elimination of the legal issues that prevent from transferring prisoners.
The transfer of prisoners to Kyiv will be possible immediately after the removal of such legal hiccups. Kyiv keeps this issue under constant control and weekly contacts with the Russian side on this issue.
