Ukrainian Helsinki Union announced one more citizen of Ukraine Mykola Shiptur, who was illegally detained by representatives of the "self-defense" in Crimea in 2014, and then sentenced to 9 years in prison.
According to human rights activists, a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk Mykola Shiptur was an active participant in the events on Maidan in 2014. After, in the wave of solidarity, he went to Crimea to take part in the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko.
There activist was detained by "self-defense".
"Shiptur was carrying a firearm and carried out warning shots in an attempt to escape from his pursuers, but none of those who was chasing him, was not injured. And Maidan activist was beaten and kicked, tortured with a stun gun for a long time approximately by 10 persons, who also broke his fingers", – human rights activists reported.
In April 2015 Gagarin district "court" of Sevastopol sentenced Shiptur to 9 years in prison for "attempted murder". He is in prison №1 of Simferopol for one and a half year.
