The Verkhovna Rada adopted a statement on the illegal detention by the Russian government of Ukrainian journalists Mykola Semena and Roman Sushchenko. 245 deputies voted for the corresponding resolution №5220.

"We appeal to you to urge to consolidate efforts for the release of Ukrainian journalists, to condemn the actions of the Russian Federation, which grossly violate human rights, to contribute to the immediate admission of consular officials of Ukraine and the lawyer for Roman Sushchenko", – it is said in the statement.

Let us remind, on September 30 in Moscow the FSB detained the special correspondent of "Ukrinform" in France Roman Sushchenko. The Russian authorities have accused him of spying. On October 1 court seized Ukrainian journalist for 2 months, as it became known later.

Mykola Semena in September 2015 wrote an article "The blockade is a necessary first step towards the liberation of Crimea", which was placed on the website "Crimea. Realities". Later a criminal case under article "separatism" was opened against him.
