Russia refused to transfer Sentsov to Ukraine, Naftogaz filed suit against Russia because of Crimean assets, Russian expertise found extremism in the words of Umerov and more.

Ukrainian President extended sanctions list against Crimeans

October 18. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on the introduction of the National Security Council decision of 16 September 2016 "On application of special personal economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)." In particular, the sanctions have been imposed against the persons involved in carrying out the so-called "elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation" on territory of annexed Crimea.


Mufti of Crimea appealed to Russian law enforcement bodies with complaints against alleged supporters of "Hizb ut-Tahrir", – document

October 18. Mufti of Crimea Emirali Ablaev appealed to Russian law enforcement bodies for response in relation to the alleged members of "Hizb ut-Tahrir." The documents published by the organizer of the civil blockade of the Crimea Lenur Islyamov.

The document dated on July 29, 2016, addressed to the head of the FSB "department" , "Interior Minister" and "prosecutor" of the Crimea with the signature of the Mufti, reports that 12 holiday prayers in the mosques were disrupted at the hands of the alleged members of "Hizb ut-Tahrir" and "Habashites sect". Ablaev reminded that it falls under the definition of "extremist activity" and asked the Russian law enforcement agencies to respond.

The document mentions one man, allegedly pertaining to the organization of the incident. There no information whether he was prosecuted by the Russian security forces, whether subjected to searches or interrogations in open sources.


Head of British Ministry of Foreign Affairs called to release Sentsov and Kolchenko

October 19. At the meeting of the House of Commons on October 18 British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson called on the Russian authorities to release Ukrainian political prisoners  Sentsov and Kolchenko. Also, Johnson added that Russia's actions in Syria and Ukraine deserve strengthening sanctions pressure.


Naftogaz filed suit against Russia because of Crimean assets

October 19. National JSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" initiated arbitration proceedings against the Russian Federation and requires compensate for the damage inflicted by the illegal capture of the group's assets in the Crimea. "Naftogaz" pre-estimated its damage at $ 2.6 billion.


Searches conducted in Bakhchisarai

October 20. Russian security forces searched for alleged member of the battalion n. a. Noman Chelebicihan. The searches took place in two locations — in the sixth district, on the street. A. Krymskyi, 38, in the house of Enver and Asan Serverov, as well as in the next street at home of Enver Abduveliev. Nobody was detained.


Russian expertise found extremism in the words of Umerov

October 20. Linguistic expertise has seen appeal to a violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation in a speech of Umerov on ATR channel.


Russia refused to transfer Sentsov

October 21. The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation refused to hand over Ukraine Oleg Sentsov convicted in the so-called case of "Crimean terrorists". The response of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation states that is impossible to transfer Sentsov, because he has dual citizenship, Russian and Ukrainian. According to Russian law, a citizen having additional citizenships is considered "only as a citizen of the Russian Federation, except for cases stipulated by international treaty or federal law". The Russian ministry said that there is no such a treaty between Russia and Ukraine, and therefore the transfer of Sentsov to Kyiv refused.
