The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine demands from the occupation authorities to release the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov. Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Mariana Betz wrote it in Twitter.
"The state of Ilmi Umerov is heavy. We demand the occupation authorities to immediately stop repressions, punitive methods", – the representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Russian authorities judge Ilmi Umerov for "separatism" in Crimea. During the trial on appointment psychiatric examination Umerov go sick, and he was hospitalized with a suspected heart attack. On August 18 he was transferred to a psycho-neurological hospital forcibly, despite the protests of the lawyers.
Daughter of Ilmi Umerov Aisha said that on Sunday, August 21, her father's state of health deteriorated sharply, blood pressure had dropped and he fainted.
Presumably, the crisis occurred because of interrupted eating patterns, and as a consequence of a hypertensive crisis on August 11, when Umerov was hospitalized from the courtroom.
Lawyer of Umerov Mark Feigin said that his client considered placing to a psychiatric hospital as torture. According to him, the defense is going to send an appeal to the European Committee against Torture in Strasbourg about the actions of the investigating authorities of the FSB.
Lawyer Nikolai Polozov said he would be in Simferopol to provide legal protection for Ilmi Umerov.
