Kyiv handed over documents to the Russian Federation for returning illegally detained in Russia Ukrainians Yuriy Soloshenko and Gennadij Afanasiev to Ukraine, "Ukrainska Pravda" reports.
According to Justice Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko, the answer will be received after the end of the political negotiations.
"Closed-door juridical negotiations are holding and I have restrained optimism that they (Soloshenko and Afanasiev) will return home soon. Juridical side is fully prepared and handed over to the Russian Federation. Response will be received by results of political negotiations", — Petrenko said.
The minister also asked politicians not to comment on the situation with political prisoners, until they are not in Ukraine.
“As it was with Nadija, the political negotiations were conducted until the last moment. Here is the same situation. And it is very important that the politicians would not comment on the course of negotiations till our guys will cross the Ukrainian border, because the negotiations are very difficult", — head of the Ministry of Justice added.
Previously, political prisoners Gennadij Afanasiev and Yurij Soloshenko, illegally convicted in Russia, wrote applications for pardon to the President of Russia.
