Zarema Kulametova’s sentence is over.

October 22 ( Zarema Kulametova’s sentence in the form of community service has ended. She was adjudged to 250 hours of community service for allegedly insulting a “government official” during the arrest of her son. Residents of the city of Staryi Krym helped her with serving the sentence, and people from all over the peninsula gathered to meet her after the end of her term.

October 24 ( The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine reported that that 1749 applicants from the temporarily occupied territories of Donbass and Crimea entered Ukrainian universities in 2018 through the educational centers of Crimea–Ukraine and Donbass–Ukraine. Through the Crimea–Ukraine centres in 2018, 227 people enrolled in universities. Last year there were 204 such applicants, and in 2016 – 153. Most of the entrants have chosen the Vernadsky Taurida National University – 88, the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University – 31, and the Lviv Polytechnic – 24. In total, the Crimea–Ukraine consulted 779 people.


Oleh Sentsov won the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought

October 25 ( Ukrainian director, Kremlin political prisoner Oleh Sentsov won the Andrei Sakharov prize For Freedom of Thought. The prize has been awarded since 1988 to people who have made “an exceptional contribution to the struggle for human rights around the globe.” Sakharov himself was a Soviet dissident, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, held several hunger strikes, one of which lasted for 178 days. Sentsov became the first Ukrainian to receive this award.

The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the situation in the Sea of ​​Azov

October 25 ( The European Parliament called on the Russian Federation to immediately stop blocking shipping and the militarization of the Azov region, and the EU and its diplomatic service ­–to prepare new sanctions in case of escalation.
