Members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people are not going to leave Crimea after the final recognition of the body an extremist organization, the "Argumenty Nedeli - Krym" quotes the words of the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis Nariman Dzhelalov.
"I am regularly in touch with my colleagues. No one expressed the wish to leave Crimea till that time. I do not exclude that such decisions may be adopted, when people will face immediate imprisonment and any (other) negative consequences", – he said.
Commenting on the question whether some members of the Mejlis can leave it due to its ban, Dzhelalov said that this is possible only in case of death of the member or the decision of Kurultai.
"There is no other way to get rid of the status of a member of the Mejlis. Thus, if my colleagues want to say that they are no longer members of the Mejlis, this statement will have a nominal character. In fact, as long as there is no decision of Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people for relieving of a concrete person of his/her duties of a member of the Mejlis, this person continues to remain the one", – the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis added.
Let us remind, yesterday the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation dismissed the defense's appeal and confirmed the recognition of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people as an extremist organization.
