Food prices continue increasing in Crimea

July 27. According to the spokesperson of self-declared Crimean authorities, prices for some articles of food have continued increasing from July 3 to July 27. Chicken meat has become 6% more expensive, pork — 11% more expensive.

 

Human rights activists demanding to change the rules of entry to Crimea

July 28. A number of human rights activists have lodged a complaint regarding the existing rules of entering and leaving Crimea. They have also prepared a package of changes to improve it.

 

World Congress of Crimean Tatars to be held in Turkey this weekend

July 30. Ankara will be hosting the World Congress of Crimean Tatars from July 31 to August 2. It is expected to gather more than 700 delegates of Ukrainian Crimean Tatar organizations, including some from occupied Crimea, as well as representatives of Crimean Tatar diasporas from Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, France, USA and other countries.

 

Oleg Sentsov on trial in Rostov-on-Don

July 30. Rostov-on-Don’s North Caucasian military district court is trying Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov and activist Alexandr Kolchenro. Russian authorities consider them Russian citizens and are accusing them of terrorism and illegal weapon trade. Sentsov is facing a sentence of 15 years to life.

 

State Border Control Service detained more than 750 people for illegal entry to Crimea

July 30. More than 750 people were detained for illegal entry to Crimea at Ukrainian border checkpoints0. According to Oleh Slobodan, the spokesman of State Border Control Service of Ukraine, the people detained were trying to enter mainland Ukraine after illegally entering the peninsula.

 

SBU banned 10 French MPs from entering Ukraine

July 30. Security Service of Ukraine has banned 10 deputies of French National Assembly and Senate from entering Ukraine for three years. They were banned for visiting Ukraine without Ukraine’s consent.

 

US introduced new sanctions against Russia

July 31. Expanded sanctions include all major ports of Crimea — Sevastopol, Kerch, Yevpatoria, Feodosia and Yalta ports — and Kerch Ferry state company. European has previously introduced sanctions against Sevastopol and Kerch ports, and Kerch Ferry as well.

Self-declared Crimean authorities are planning to transfer Kerch Ferry into ownership of the Council of Ministers of Crimea by September 15 virtually conducting an illegal nationalization.
