Approximately 35% of the sentences of current victims of politically motivated criminal prosecutions in Crimea were handed down after the start of the full-scale invasion. This was reported by CrimeaSOS analyst Yevhenii Yaroshenko.

“Since February 24, 2022, russian and occupation courts have sentenced 45 victims of politically motivated persecution in the occupied Crimea. This is approximately 35% of the number of convictions for victims of politically motivated criminal prosecutions”, — said Yevhenii Yaroshenko.

Most of them are people who were accused of alleged involvement in the Islamic political organization Hizb ut-Tahrir or the volunteer Crimean Tatar battalion named after Noman Çelebicihan.

Both organizations were recognized as terrorists on the territory of russia and in the occupied territories. Hizb ut-Tahrir operates legally in most countries of the world, including Ukraine. The Noman Çelebicihan battalion is a volunteer formation and is not banned on the territory of Ukraine.

We would like to remind you that the total prison term of the current victims of politically motivated persecution in the temporarily occupied Crimea is 1339 years and 2 months.
