As of 18 May, 123 victims of politically motivated prosecution in occupied Crimea are behind the bars, says the CrimeaSOS analyst Ievgenii Iarosheko. 84 of them are persecuted in connection with the so-called Hizb ut-Tahrir cases, 10 – Noman Çelebicihan volunteer battalion cases, 3 – a case of alleged gas pipe diversion, and 1 case of Yunus Masharipov. 64 out of 98 Crimean Tatars have been sentenced to 892 years in total, Ievgenii Iaroshenko adds.

It should be reminded that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion the pressure on Crimean Tatars has increased in Crimea. Thus, since 24 February, 4 persons were arrested for alleged participation in the Noman Çelebicihan volunteer battalion.

Reference: Hizb ut-Tahrir is an international Muslim organization that russia recognized as a „terrorist“ organization in 2003, although its activities are legal in Ukraine and many other countries. Crimean Tatars persecuted for their alleged involvement in the activities of this organization are being sentenced to imprisonment terms from 5 to 19 years.
