Overview of the situation in Crimea. September 2017
In September, the unspoken practice of banning any kind of public meetings showed up vividly. It concerned meetings, not organised by the structures under control of the de facto authorities; in particular, meetings that were not considered to be public events. The Supreme Court of occupied Crimea sentenced Akhtem Chiygoz, the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, to 8 years of a strict-regime colony. Criminal case against Marlen for a post in a social network and base it upon the article “incitement of hatred or enmity”. The abduction and tortures of Renat Paralamov became the most heinous violation of human rights in September.
