Yesterday, on May 17, the officials of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don were finally granted an opportunity to meet with Ruslan Zeitullayev, for the first time in the year that he was illegally held in custody. This was reported on the official Facebook page of the CGU in Rostov-on-Don.
«It’s the second day of the Ukrainian’s hunger-strike, he protests against violation of his rights and political repression against the Crimean Tatar people, committed by the Russian Federation in the occupied Crimea. On the second day of the current hunger-strike, which is not the first one for him, Ruslan Zeitullayev lost 1,2 kilos of weight», – stated in the message.
The diplomats note that Zeitullayev demands to guarantee the Ukrainian consuls permanent access to him; to organize a meeting between him and Ukrainian Parliament’s Commissioner for Human Rights Valeriya Lutkovska; to afford access to the occupied Autonomous Republic of the Crimea for representatives of international human rights organizations; as well as his immediate release and return to Ukraine.
«Generally, the convict’s organism has obviously weakened. However, Ruslan Zeitullayev remains in a satisfactory moral and psychological condition, preserves mental clarity and is strongly determined to continue the struggle both against violation of his rights and for the whole nation of the Crimean Tatars», – the diplomats added.
Important to note , defendant in the Sevastopol «Hizb ut-Tahrir case» Ruslan Zeitullayev announced another indefinite hunger-strike.
