Russia began to work out the mechanism of transfer of sentenced citizens of Ukraine who are serving their sentences in occupied Crimea. When a solution is found, ombudsmen of the Russian Federation and Ukraine will hold a meeting.
It was reported by the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Tatiana Moskalkova, TASS wites.
She explained that in order to release the convicts from prison, "we need a court decision or an act of extradition, or some other extraordinary decision".
"So far, we do not have none of them, and work towards this issue is underway. When it is completed, we will meet with Lutkovska", — the ombudsman said.
According to Moskalkova, the Ukrainian side did not confirm the possibility of this transfer under the Convention, which exists in Russia.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights of Ukraine Valeria Lutkovska negotiated with Russian colleague Tatiana Moskalkova the mechanism of transfer of 18 citizens of Ukraine, kept in custodial institutions in annexed Crimea, to the territory of continental Ukraine.
Also, recently the deputy head of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine Natalia Sevostyanova reported that negotiations on the transfer convicted in Crimea citizens of Ukraine to Kyiv are in the final stage.
