Case of Ukrainian colonels, who helped to annex Crimea, sent to court

Former Ukrainian servicemen are accused of treason and desertion.

Military prosecutor's office of Chernihiv garrison of Central region of Ukraine has sent to the court indictment against two Ukrainian colonels-traitors. It is reported by the press service of the prosecutor's office.

"In March 2014 these officers (names not given  – Ed.) did not come from temporarily occupied Crimea to dislocation to the locations on the mainland of Ukraine. Instead they took the oath of allegiance to the Russian Federation. In addition, they have provided assistance to Russia in the seizure of a military unit with all its assets", – it is said in the message.

Their actions are categorized under "Treason" and "Desertion with weapons or on preliminary arrangement by group of persons" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The charge for each article provides for punishment of imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years.
