Defendant in the «Hizb ut-Tahrir case» Arsen Dzhepparov was put in the punitive cell for 25 days. Lawyer Dzhemil Temishev informed this in a comment for QirimInfo.
Dzhepparov was put in a punitive cell allegedly for failure to open the door to his cell under the demand of the remand prison administration.
«Their cell is one of the smallest in the remand prison. It’s impossible to even walk there. If one person stands up, the second one will not manage to squeeze in. That is why the door to the cell opens badly», – the lawyer told.
Dzhepparov has been held in the punitive cell for the fourth day.
«He was under therapy when they sent him [to the punitive cell]. He was wearing socks and a shirt when they took him. He was standing in the cold disciplinary cell for the whole night», – Temishev added.
This is not the first time Dzepparov gets to the punitive confinement. In January he spent 10 days there, allegedly for failure to shave the beard.
Important to note, Arsen Dzhepparov’s health condition seriously deteriorated during his stay in the remand prison. Abscesses keep appearing on his body. Due to this, Dzhepparov had a surgery last November.
Recently, Dzhepparov suffered from a new inflammation in his ear. He partially lost his hearing because of it. Apart from that, he is constantly suffering from headaches. However, the remand prison administration keeps ignoring Dzhepparov’s pleas on thorough medical examination.
«He writes claims [that he needs a medical examination] practically every day. Meanwhile, the visiting theraupeutist who comes to them says that Arsen filed no claims», – the lawyer told.
Later on, they finally arranged medical examination for Dzhepparov.
«They did blood and urine tests, made a diagnosis of something like a cold and prescribed a 5-day course of antibiotics. We don’t know the exact preparation. Even if he did chill this ear, he was walking around with a running sore for two weeks. There were complications after that, there’s practically no hearing in that ear. The headaches remained. He is taking pain-killers all the time. His relatives pass him big ampoules of pain-killers», – Temishev added.
The lawyer repeatedly addressed to the remand prison staff so that his client would receive medical assistance. The prison administration ignored Temishev’s pleas.
«They, as usual, accused me of being a blackmailer and of rattling the saber», – Temishev previously said.
Tomorrow, on June 14, the lawyer will try to visit Dzhepparov again.
Important to note, Arsen Dzhepparov is one of the defendants in the «Hizb ut-Tahrir case». He, together with other defendants in this case Emir-Usein Kuku, Vadym Siruk, Refat Alimov and Muslim Aliyev, was detained in April 2016. A week ago, the court prolonged the arrest for them for two months, in the closed regime.
The defendants in this case have already spent a year and a half in the remand prison. The lawyers repeatedly stated that the investigation in this case was being deliberately delayed.
At the meeting of the Crimean Solidarity, Temishev said that repeated sending his client to the punitive confinement was the investigators’ and the remand prison administration’s attempt to put pressure on him.
«He is the youngest [of all the defendants in the «Hizb ut-Tahrir case»]. The investigation cannot find enough evidence in this case and is trying to «break down» this guy. We will do everything we can to somehow protect him from this», – the lawyer said back then.
