“People disappear and fall under reprisals in Crimea. We protest against detention and battery of the delegate of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar People Asan Egis. It seems like Kremlin is of the opinion that such crimes might go unpunished.” – stated Pavlo Klimkin.
On 23 May in the village of Pionerskoe the unidentified men abducted the delegate of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar People Asan Egis. The lawyer Aider Azamatov in search for Egis contacted FSS in Simferopol, but was told that they did not detain Asan. Later Egis managed to contact his family and inform about his location. He was battered and left in the forest.
